Thorough diagnostics
We will take full digital X-rays of your teeth to help the doctor establish the condition of your oral health. Digital X-rays emit 80 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays. We will also take digital photos of your smile for your patient record, and for use in any future treatment planning.
Consultation with the doctor
Before your exam starts, the doctor will find out about your goals, concerns, what you feel is important and what you wish to focus on. In this way, they can make sure everything is properly addressed during your exam.
Comprehensive exam
During your exam, the doctor will perform an oral cancer screening by examining your head, neck and the inside of your mouth. They will also check your jaw joints for malfunction or pain. These are followed by a thorough inspection of your teeth and gums to assess the condition of your oral health and detect any gum disease or tooth decay.
The doctor uses a DIAGNOdent® laser cavity detection device to discover tooth decay in its early stages, before it is visible to the eye. The light reflects in different colors on the tooth surfaces, showing decay even its infant stages. This makes it possible to treat tooth decay before any real damage has set in.
Detailed treatment plan

The doctor will go over the results of your exam with you in detail, and will answer any questions you may have.
The doctor will present his or her findings in a way that is easy to understand. If applicable, they will discuss your treatment options in detail, and can present digital displays of procedures or results as needed to help you get a clear idea of what will be involved with different treatment options. The doctor will make sure to answer any of your questions so you are very well informed and can make a comfortable decision about your treatment.
Thorough and Gentle Teeth Cleanings
Gum disease is the primary cause of tooth loss in adults in the United States. Regular professional teeth cleanings and proper home oral care are vital to prevent this disease and keep your gums and teeth healthy.
Our hygienist is very skilled, caring and experienced. She will gently and thoroughly clean your teeth and will provide you with excellent home oral care instructions so you can maintain your oral health between visits. We also have a designated hygiene assistant to make your appointments efficient, and a hygiene coordinator to take care of your appointment scheduling.
Ultrasonic scalers
We use ultrasonic scalers to gently and effectively remove accumulated hardened bacterial deposits from your teeth. Ultrasonic scalers generate high-frequency vibrations that dislodge and clean away these deposits. The vibrations also shatter the cell membranes of the bacteria, thus destroying them.
Ultrasonic scalers clean deeper than conventional scaling instruments and are gentler on your teeth and gums, and therefore more comfortable.
Home oral care education
We include detailed home oral education as part of your cleaning appointment, so you know what to do to effectively maintain your oral health at home. We have a number of excellent videos that explain why oral hygiene is important, and show effective oral care techniques that will help you master good home oral care practices. We will answer any questions you might have and use photos to show you any areas you may have to pay special attention to.
